The Sacred Time Project
is a biannual, weekend long conference that aims to develop its participants
spiritually, impart within them a stronger knowledge and appreciation for the
deen, and ultimately bring them closer to our Lord. It will be held from March
15th - 17th at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Our guest speakers are Dr.
Omar Mahmood from Deen Intensive and University of Michigan Chaplain Mohammed
Tayssir Safi.
The program is expected
to run from 5PM to 11PM on Friday, from 10AM to 11PM on Saturday, and from 10AM
to 2PM on Sunday. All meals will be provided, and housing arrangements can be
made if necessary. Financial assistance is available upon request, as we would
like all that are interested to be able to attend!
In essence, the Sacred
Time Project promises to be an incredible weekend full of learning, reflecting,
and lasting transformation. Dedicate your weekend to intense spiritual
development, and make sure to bring your friends and family! Background
Originally started in
Spring 2004, the Sacred Time Project Retreat has become an annual event held by
our MSA. It has been a successful and beneficial event for attendees in which
the interaction between the attendees and speakers was engaging and
thought-provoking. Furthermore, it has brought people from various cities in
Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana to gain knowledge and build long-lasting
friendships. This retreat has also allowed many students to feel connected
with the tradition of Islamic scholarship. With a more intensive weekend
retreat, we hope to continue this project and expand our topic selection to
cover a wide array of issues from historic events, to Islamic scholarship, to
contemporary issues.
