Hosted by the Muslim Students Association at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

The Sacred Time Project is a weekend-long retreat devoted to developing its participants both mentally and spiritually. The purpose of the program has been to serve participants with a basic knowledge of Islam and impart within them an appreciation for the religion's texts, scholars, and sciences in modern-day context.

Speakers

Brother Sa’ad Quadri

Brother Sa’ad Quadri completed his Bachelor’s degree in English and History at Northern Illinois University and is pursuing his Master's degree in Education at De Paul University. He completed high school a year early to pursue studies in the Islamic sciences at the Institute of Islamic Education where he spent three years memorizing Qur'an, studying Arabic, and pursuing basic studies in fiqh (jurisprudence) and hadith (prophetic traditions). Currently Sa'ad is continuing his studies in the Sacred Learning Individual Study Program. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani describes himself as a "global nomad", as he spent his childhood in Canada, England, Egypt, and Spain, before returning to Canada to complete his high school and university studies. At the University of Toronto, he became active with the Muslim Students Association, and started studying with local scholars. After graduating in 1997, he and his wife (Ustadha Shireen Ahmed) traveled to Damascus and Amman, studying with scholars such as Shaykh Nuh Keller. In 2001, the SunniPath web site was created. After ten years overseas, Shaykh Faraz returned to Canada in the summer of 2007. In May 2008 he founded SeekersGuidance. In 2009, Shaykh Faraz was named one of the 500 most influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center.
