WHO ARE WE?

The Muslim Students’ Association at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor is one of the oldest and most established Muslim student groups in the country. Since its foundation, it has developed into one of the most active and vibrant student organizations on our campus. Our mission is to serve God by serving the community in all aspects of life. Our goals are to create a space for Muslim students to feel comfortable and empowered with their hybrid identities and to engage the broader campus community at a time when it is crucial to do so. We aim to provide avenues for students to learn and thrive in the midst of a brotherhood and sisterhood that is unparalleled to any other organization on campus.  

THE MICHIGAN MUSLIM DIFFERENCE

Our Muslim community, much like the broader campus community we are proudly a part of, is spirited and diverse, a hub of emerging visionaries, activists and leaders. The individuals of our community come from many backgrounds, some arriving with an extensive understanding of their faith, and others with no formal religious learning. Some grew up in communities with strong youth organizations in which they held active roles, and others from fragmented communities where they felt marginalized or alienated. Diversity—in all of its forms—is something that we embrace as recognize that is a key feature of our community’s barakah.  We strive to serve the more than 1,000 diverse members of the Muslim community on campus through a wide range of religious, educational and communal activities. 

 

SUPPORT US

The Muslim Students’ Association is completely run by dedicated and driven student volunteers. On any given night of the week, students are engaged in some sort of MSA activity where they are learning, dialoguing, community-building, organizing and/or serving others. The MSA at Michigan has often been looked to as a model for young Muslim activist groups to follow. We are humbled by this reputation and take our responsibility seriously. Maintaining our exemplary activities is possible because of the generosity of our community. The motivation, sincerity, and talent of our community are boundless, but we can only continue these efforts and maintain this excellence with the help and support of parents, community members, alumni, and other friends of the MSA.
